Healing Journey Counseling, LLC
I believe that counseling is a courageous journey of self-exploration, understanding, and healing. At times, our path leads us back to past experiences, allowing us to uncover their impact and understand how they’ve shaped us. Other times, we are called to look ahead—imagining the person we want to become and the possibilities that lie before us. And at times, our journey invites us to be fully present, to sit with the here and now, feel our emotions, and learn from the experiences unfolding in the moment. My commitment to you is to walk alongside you on this journey. I approach every session with compassion, empathy, and honesty, dedicated to supporting your growth and healing every step of the way.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Substance Abuse Counselor, and Independent Clinical Supervisor. I earned my Master of Science in Education in Professional Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. During my studies, I had the privilege of working abroad in Malaysia, where I supported refugee children and teenagers who were survivors of trafficking. This experience profoundly shaped my understanding of human resilience and the transformative power of support.
My approach to therapy is centered on partnership—creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel heard and valued while honoring their unique life experiences. I recognize the courage it takes to seek help and make meaningful change, and am deeply committed to walking alongside clients on their journey of growth and healing.
With many years of experience working at a residential treatment center for substance use disorders, I have had the privilege of guiding both clients and their families through the process of recovery and healing. As I transition into private practice, I am excited to bring this extensive experience with me. I utilize a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including CBT, experiential therapy, REBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness, tailored to meet each client's unique needs and goals.
I specialize in supporting individuals navigating a range of mental health challenges, including grief and bereavement, life transitions, family dynamics, codependency, anxiety, stress management, self-esteem, attachment, and intellectual/developmental disabilities. Alongside my work with substance use, I am particularly passionate about helping the geriatric population and providing much-needed support to caregivers. My approach is grounded in empathy and empowering clients as they work through life's complexities and find healing.
